Asbury Community,
This Friday we have some exciting happenings at Asbury – our Community Circle will be occurring at 1:30 on the field and we will have very special guests that will be helping us usher in summer time! We are excited to have Fire Department Engine 16 here at Asbury. Please join us outside on the field for students to be sprayed down and then we will host our BEST awards. For students that do not want to get wet, they will cheer everyone else on as they get wet and then everyone will participate in BEST awards!
This year has been jam packed with lots of learning and fun and we want to celebrate students with this fun Community Circle! To continue celebrations, students have engaged in lots of projects this year, most recently including 3rd Grade Wax Projects, 1st Grade’s solar system/volcanoes and rocks projects, 4th grade architect unit and poetry project as well as 5th grades legacy project. Second graders also had their inventors unit! I am so proud of all our students and their hard work- they are incredible.
One specific area of data we monitor as a school is around our early literacy data. We monitor this through our READ Act data. The goal and what we want to see in regards to data- is that around 80% of our students in grades K-3 score 80% or higher on this assessment. At Asbury, as of May, we have 79% of our K-3 grade students scoring in Tier 1 or ‘meeting expectations’! This is exciting and it is just one way that we show that we are supporting students academically.
In addition, we have other celebrations, including our focus on supporting students in math, science, reading, and writing. Underlying all of these academic celebrations, we also have continued a focus on supporting students as individuals, with unique needs. We recognize that there is a balance with supporting students academically and socially and emotionally. We will continue these areas of focus moving into next year.
Thanks for your ongoing partnership as we wrap up this year and move into next year! Let’s continue to keep Asbury great!
In Partnership,
Jeanna Doung

Mental Health Summer Services
The Denver Health Student Based Health Clinics will be providing mental health support for students over the summer through a program called TRUST who may be suicidal or have violent ideation, have a significant traumatic experience, or any other mental health concerns. TRUST stands for Therapeutic Response and Urgent Stabilization Team. School staff can make a referral using this form http://tinyurl.com/SBHCMHreferral. TRUST operates year-round, so you can always refer students, but the summer is a great time to use this resource since school staff are not as readily available. You can read more about the services provided here
