Asbury Thursday Folders – September 26, 2024

Posted September 26, 2024

Principal Message:

Dear Asbury Families,

As a reminder, this Friday, September 27,  teachers have a release day, which means that it is a non-student contact day. Students do not have school. This is a day where teachers come together and grow their professional practice as well as collaborate with one another to ensure we are setting students up for success! As educators, we are thankful for this time to be able to better support our students. And, there is great news for Discovery Link families- on all DPS and Asbury Release days, Discovery Link will offer a camp. On Asbury days, this camp will most likely be at Asbury. On the DPS days, this camp will most likely be available at other schools, so be on the lookout for information from Mr. Ronnie!

Next Tuesday, we will have CSC and PTSO meetings, please join us virtually for these meetings. These will be hosted on Google Meets. During CSC, we will be talking about October Count Funds and budget, as well as reviewing the SPF for Asbury. We will also take time to review the CSC handbook with the bylaws. If you would like to join, please see below for the schedule and the link to join (the link is the same for both meetings).

We look forward to seeing you (virtually)!

In Partnership,

Jeanna Doung

Prospective Parent Tours

If you know anyone that has an upcoming student, please let them know that we will be hosting prospective parent tours. During these tours, current parents and student ambassadors  give a tour of Asbury, we have teachers share out and then Ms. D shares out and answers questions for parents. These are hosted on Fridays from 9:30-10:30am weekly from October through January. If you know anyone that is interested in checking Asbury out, please share this school tours website!

FMLA and FAMLI+ Leaves and Their Impact at Asbury

We have had several grade levels impacted by teacher leaves. We all are thrilled with teachers taking leaves and spending time with their newest additions, but we have noted a few impacts to our classrooms and have also felt the impact of these different leaves. To raise these concerns to DPS, we came together to create this letter to send along to the Instructional and Operational Directors of our school to raise our perspectives and seek change. We will keep you informed on next steps. Please take time to read the linked letter to get more insight into this feedback and challenge.

DPS/Asbury Release Days (Teacher Work Days)

Great news for Discovery Link families- on all DPS and Asbury Release days, Discovery Link will offer a camp. On Asbury days, this camp will most likely be at Asbury. On the DPS days, this camp will most likely be available at other schools, so be on the lookout for information from Mr. Ronnie!
