Asbury Community,
If you have not popped by Asbury playground recently, you should stop by and check out our newly revamped green space under Bob. Who is Bob, you ask? Bob is our giant tree in the middle of our school yard – the tree has been here almost as long as the school.
Over spring break, a crew came out and added mulch and outdoor seating/play structures under the big tree. At Asbury we enjoy getting fresh air and eating outside. With these additional seats, we can enjoy more comfortable outdoor eating for students – which we love. In asking students where they prefer eating, most students indicate they love eating outdoors – eating with friends in open spaces in the sun is a highlight of their day!
If you are able, stop by and check out these updates to the playground!
In Partnership,
Jeanna Doung

QPR Gatekeeper Training
On Monday, April 22, from 4:45pm to 6:15pm (doors opening at 4:30), join the McKinley-Thatcher, Asbury, Lincoln, and Steele communities for QPR Gatekeeper Training at McKinley-Thatcher (1230 S Grant). This innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training is designed to teach participants the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond.
The signs of crisis are all around us and quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know. Trainees receive a QPR booklet and wallet card as a review and resource tool that includes local referral resources, as well as a certificate of completion. For more information about the session, check out this flier, here.
LIMITED TO THE FIRST 40 PEOPLE TO SIGN UP. THIS PROGRAM IS FOR ADULTS ONLY. CHILDCARE IS NOT PROVIDED.
