I have been a L.P.N. for 27 years. Most of my nursing experience has been in geriatric and skilled nursing. I spent 3 ½ years of my nursing career working with head start/early head start children.

My hobbies are reading, bowling and tending to my herb garden and various other plants. I also enjoy volunteering. I spent a great deal of my time in Nebraska volunteering with various organizations such as Omaha Black Nurses Association, and Salem Baptist Curch Nurses Ministry. I currently volunteer every Monday with the Seven Day Adventist L.I.F.T. Unit. (Live Intervention For Families in Transition.) They offer limited medical services for families without insurance or primary care physicians. I am very excited to be a DPS employee!! I am looking forward to having a fantastic school year!!

Nancy Holtgraves (Social Worker/Psychologist)

Loren Droy - (MDS Counselor)

Shelby Young (OT/PT)

Sue Pippenger (Speech)

My belief that communication is a fundamental human right forms the basis of my passion for speech language pathology. Language is essential to understanding ourselves, each other, and our world. Every person, young and old, has a story. My primary role is to support academic skills by remediating speech and language disorders. I also believe in empowering students to have their stories heard and to hear and understand the stories of others.

I graduated with a B.A. in Humanities from S.U.N.Y. Purchase in May of 1981, simultaneously receiving my Elementary Teaching Certificate from Manhattanville College. I moved to Colorado in the fall of the same year and haven't looked back! In 1994 I received my BA in Communication Disorders and Speech Science from CU Boulder, and was fortunate enough to start working for The Denver Public Schools in the fall of the same year.

I live in Denver with my wonderful husband and three cats. I helped to raise my stepson, who introduced us in 1988 when he was 3 years old. He's on his own now, and we marvel at his accomplishments - but introducing us is probably the one I appreciate most!
