Community Input

-          Curriculum night – There were approximately 200 people in the auditorium.  There were not as many at parents at the classroom visits as the teachers would have liked.  Some parent comments were that having child care would be ideal – something to consider.  Time-wise it was ideal for the teachers.

-          Another suggestion for Popsicle night was to send out class list before.  The reason the class assignment was not sent home with the registration packet was because students were still being added and moving to other schools and we wanted as accurate a class list as possible.

-          GT Teacher(.25 hours/wk) – what does that mean for our kids in terms of follow through? Anita would ideally like this position here for more time and is looking into this, but for now it is used for pull-out instruction and testing.  Ask parents to come and speak with Anita or the Irina, the GT teacher, regarding their needs.

Teacher Reports

-          Homework club (Emily Kluver is heading this up along with D.U.)– The Homework Club is just getting underway. It is for 1st & 2nd graders and is on Mon & Wed 3:30 – 4:30  in room 104. Students will receive an invitation to participate.

Principal’s Report

·        CSAP test scores

-          Initial data crunch – 4 reports (prediction , DRA, School Satisfaction, and Content report) was conducted with the teachers before the start of school

-          Gains report – handed out for review - Notice some double digit deficits in 2008-2009.

-          Gap report – given out for review to discuss results

  • Parent Teacher Conferences – we will be doing conferences like we did last year on the  26 & 27 of October 3:30 – 7:30pm, 15 min per student and the 28th we will be off school.
  • AYP – Adequate Yearly Process for 2008 – 2009 were passed out for review.  There was a discussion around financing more books for book bags or other ideas of how to get students to read more.
  • Other

-          Contingency plan for class coverage discussed.  Rotating class coverage among specials subjects teachers in the case where a substitute teacher is not available.

Old Business

New Business

·         Fall Adjustment Information – The Reduction in Staff document was passed out for review.  We should not have to worry about any staff reductions at all since we are so close to our projections.  We are 2-3 kids short of our student projections.  Carry-forward dollars will come in October to determine what our rest of year long budget will consist of.  Most of the carry forward dollars will go towards paraprofessionals.

Committee Reports

PTA –

-          Carnival meeting tonight (Sept 8) to finalize plans and volunteers.

-          Room Parents assigned for each classroom to begin in early October.

-          We had a lot of interest and membership sign-ups at the Curriculum night.

                Enrichment
