PTA minutes for April 21, 2009
Principal’s Report:
Bond Issue: Asbury is scheduled for
Learning Landscapes in 2011 and will feature an outdoor garden.
Technology Fund: Asbury received
$61,000 for its Tech Fund.
Para: Inquired as to PTA funding a
para – might be able to afford 4 hours which is about $10,000.00.
No paras are in the budget for next year.
Student Council: Want to sell
lollipops as fund raiser for student council. Mrs. Theriot will
check with Mrs. Rogers about selling on Field Day.
Clothing Drive: A big success! It
worked better after school instead of on a Saturday – maybe Asbury
will do it again next year before Spring Break.
President’s Report:
Chuckie Cheese Night – Raised about
$104.00
Water Cooler – Teacher’s Lounge –
teacher’s need to present their proposal
South High: Ann Shiveley – a
neighborhood parent talked about an upcoming meeting at South High to
bolster enrollment and improve the school
RIF: Another great time for the kids.
Asbury has already put in its application for next year.
Continuation: Scheduled for 5/30/09
in the morning. The office will pay for lunch which is$5.00. PTA
will pay for the cake and t-shirts.
Elitches: 5/22/09
Vice President/Secretary: Discussed
the position and volunteers
Carnival: Earned about $1800.00 this
year. Set for 9/17/09 next year.
Back to School Night: Set for 8/13/09
with a popsicle social in the afternoon.
Curriculum Night: 9/3/09
Lights on after School: Denver
Foundation funds tutoring and enrichment activities. Asbury is
working on a grant.
Dining Out Nights: We discussed
different fund raisers at local restaurants and how often the PTA
should advertise them.
Flu Clinic: Should work out next
year. Tentatively set for 10/16/09. Students and parents must RSVP
for the shot.
Treasurer’s Report:
Escript: Good return.
Gift Certificates: Still selling
PTA Convention – The Co-President
attended.
Teacher Grants paid out for this year.
Other Business:
Web Site: Discussed whether the PTA
should have a separate web site and how to keep it updated.
Field Day: May 12, 13
