August 5, 2009

Dear Asbury, Cory, Slavens, Steele and UPark families,

The Center for Early Education has opened its doors!

Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Barbara Raymor is our front office support. The number to the school is 720-424-6503. We are eager to meet all of you, and answer whatever questions you may have before we begin our wonderful journey together.

The "Meet and Greet" is set for August 10, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on the east and central front lawns. A snack and drink will be provided. Please join us to meet your child’s classroom teacher and the staff of C.E.E.! Class lists will be posted at this time. This event is for currently registered and enrolled families of the Center for Early Education.

We are planning a community reception for late September, details about that will follow.

School starts on August 19, 2009 as a shortened orientation day from 8:30 to 11:10 for all ECE students. Parents please bring your child with you on this day and plan to stay for the whole time. Classroom supplies can be dropped off in your child’s classroom on this day, or if you ordered through Edukit, those supplies will be delivered for you to the school. Please do NOT label any supplies, with the exception of soft-sided back-pack and lunch box. You and your child will spend some time in the classroom together in the morning, and parents will adjourn to the auditorium for a comprehensive orientation with the faculty of the school.

Registration for all 5 schools coming to the Center (Asbury, Cory, Slavens, Steele and UPark) will happen through each home school only.

The first full day of school for all ECE students is August 20th. Kindergarten students start on the 24th of August (with several testing days before that). A letter will be coming home from Cory Elementary detailing the Kindergarten specifics as to the start of the school year.

Hours for preschool and Kindergarten are:

Full-day ECE: 8:30 to 3:15

½ day AM ECE: 8:30 to 11:10

½ day PM Kindergarten: 12:30 to 3:15

REMEMBER we will have Kaleidoscope Corner at the C.E.E. The program offers:

Early Riser 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Lunch Bunch: 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

After-school care 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The phone number for Kaleidoscope registration information is: 720-424-8291.

Food Service will start at CEE on August 20, 2009. We are proud to offer a universal free breakfast from 8:00 to 8:30 every day, the option for hot lunch daily (full-price, reduced price and free lunch options will follow the federal guidelines for Free and Reduced lunch as any other school in DPS) and a healthy afternoon snack including milk. If you would like more information about food service at CEE, please don’t hesitate to call the office.

The staff is busy working setting up classrooms, the building is sparkling clean and beautiful and we are so excited to meet you all!

Please do not hesitate to contact the Center should you have further questions.

With warmest regards,

Suzanne Rougier

Director, Center for Early Education
