Biggest risk you’ve taken?

When I was 27, I traveled to Israel, Jordan and Egypt for 3 months. For a portion of the time I was with a tour group, but for the other half I traveled alone. It was quite the adventure and I have lots of memories that I cherish from the trip.

Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Traveling and seeing the world! Three summers ago, I spent 6 weeks in Kenya volunteering. I have to say it was a summer of a lifetime!

Pets?

I have a Golden Retriever who I love dearly. Wrigley is 5 1/2 years old and came to me through a “rescue” situation at 6 months old. He loves to eat, sleep, swim, and play with his best doggy buddy, Finn.

How many years teaching?

This will be my 8th year teaching and I have spent all of it in 3rd grade at Asbury. I feel so lucky to be at a great school and in the “BEST” grade.

Alma Mater?

I attended the University of Kansas for undergrad. I earned my Bachelors Degree in Environmental Policy and taught Environmental Education for the following 3 years. I was lucky enough to teach outdoor school in the Redwood National Park. I soon learned that I loved teaching and moved back to Colorado to earn my teaching license and Masters Degree from UNC in Greeley.

Hometown?

I grew up in Greeley, Colorado. It was a great place to grow up, but after high school I moved on to experience new places.

What’s on your ipod?

Indie rock, funk, pop, underground hip hop, dance music, and soul.

Dream vacation?

Fiji or Bali

Favorite thing about living in Colorado?

I love the summer in Colorado. Camping, walking Wrigley at the dog park, and being warm are some of my favorite things to do.

Favorite sport to watch or play and why?

I grew up dancing. All types of dance: ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and pom. I still LOVE to dance, watch So You Think You Can Dance, and watch UDA dance competitions on ESPN.

Favorite board game?

I really enjoy playing cards and Mancala.

Best part of teaching?

The best part of teaching is that every day is different.

Favorite book or author?

I love the The Great Fuzz Frenzy by Janet Stevens

Why Asbury?

I love the community and neighborhood. You are all GREAT!

Favorite memory teaching?

Mrs. Tanner and I dressed up as Ms. Nelson and Ms. Viola Swamp from Ms. Nelson is Missing for Halloween

My wedding day at the beautiful Manor House and the day Jillian was born!

Favorite sport to watch or play and why?

I love to play volleyball. Football and volleyball are my favorite sports to watch! Go Packers!

Best part of teaching?

The “ah ha moment!”

Why teaching?

The kids make me smile and laugh everyday and I get to be myself!

Why Asbury?

The close community, amazing staff and warm feeling you get when you walk in the building!
